BALANCING TRADITIONS WITH INNOVATIONS FOR CHURCH GROWTH
On September 30, 2030 Glocal Compassion witnessed its long awaited maiden GLEC programme of leadership training and seminar at the Bantama Baptist Zone of the Kumasi North Baptist Association. The programme took place at ST. James Baptist Church, Kumasi.
About 250 registered members attended the programme. The participants included the Pastors and Deacons Churches within the Bantama Baptist Zone. Some theological students of the Ghana Baptist University College also took part in the training programme.
Rev C. K. Domfeh, the Zonal Chairman opened the three-hour training programme with a welcoming address after which Rev Dr John Kwasi Fosu began by giving a talk on the main theme of balancing tradition with innovation for church growth.
Among others, Rev Dr Fosu emphasised on the essentials of embarking on innovative church growth visions and innovations church growth strategies if a local church is to grow holistically in this post-covid times.
Thereafter, Rev Mrs Mary Fosu spoke about how to organise youth and teens ministry for effective church growth. In a time where Ghana has a youthful population, Rev Mrs Fosu dwelt on the creative ways to make our church services attractive for today’s youth.
The last speaker for the occasion was Rev Prof. Yaw Adu-Gyamfi who spoke on the itching issue of creative Baptist ministerial security. Drawing on his rich experience of serving as a Baptist minister in Great Britain, Prof Adu-Gyamfi highlighted on the essentials of organising sustainable retirement policy for the Baptist Minister within the sub-region.
The feedback received after the programme indicates that, on the whole, the programme was successfully organised and thus impactful. The Zone and other Baptist Associations, therefore, look forward for such trainings especially in the coming year, 2024.
